URBAN FOREST PROJECT

The Urban Forest Project is a Housing Community with a focus on equity planning--building a culture of Sustainability that encompasses a Sustainable and Socially-Just planet.

  • Too many people are continually experiencing financial, housing, and food insecurities.

  • This housing facility/forest reduces the heat index, provides onsite food options, and reduces energy consumption with Energy Star and Water Sense appliances.

  • (saving travel time and money)

  • The Urban Forest is situated next to a city bus stop, farmer’s market, and library.

The goal of this project is to provide sustainable low-income housing, reduce energy consumption by 25 - 50% , and provide green spaces replete with edible shrubs and trees that help mitigate the Tucson Heat Island Effect.
